How to Change Your Zoom Virtual Background to Make Meetings More Fun

Zoom added more features to its app, features that will make the app more fun and enjoyable to use and this should be as a result of the COVID-19, which has forced many people to work from home.

One of these features is the ability to change your Zoom background which makes your call more bearable. You can change your background to transport you to be on a comic strip or in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. You can also upload your own image to change your Zoom virtual background to something more personal.

The question is, how do you use this virtual background feature? I will be showing you how you can do that both in desktop and mobile.

How to change your Zoom background on the desktop app

I will be showing you how to access this feature before joining a meeting and after joining a meeting.

Before Joining a Meeting

1. Download the Zoom appfor Mac or Windows and install it.
2. Open the app and sign in.
3. Tap on your profile picture and then click on Settings.
4. In the left menu bar, click on the Virtual Background tab (if you don’t see this tab, log in to the Zoom website, go to Settings and toggle on Virtual Background).
5. In the Virtual Background tab, select one of Zoom’s defaults or upload your own image.
6. If you have a green screen set-up, you can select that option.
7. To add your own image or video, click the + icon to upload from your computer.

After Joining a Meeting:

1. Click on “^” next to stop video at the bottom of the client.
2. Select Change Virtual Background.
3. You can choose one of Zoom’s defaults image or upload your own image in the Virtual Background tab.
4. To add your own image or video, click the + icon to upload from your computer.

How to change your Zoom Virtual background on the mobile app

Zoom app is not supported in Android, so this below step is only for iOS phones

1. Download the Zoom app on your iPhone or iPad and install it.
2. Open the app and join a meeting
3. Click on “More” / “three dots” in the bottom right corner of your screen
4. Tap on Virtual Background
5. Tap on the + icon to add an image
6. You can select one the Zoom’s default image or upload yours.
