SASSA Announces Grant Payment Dates For August 2022

Flippstack reports that the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced the August dates for grants receipts, which will start out with older persons grant.

According to SASA, social grants will be paid in the following order:

• Tuesday, 2 August – Older Person’s grants (pension)
• Wednesday, 3 August – Disability grants
• Thursday, 4 August – All other grants will be paid from this day onwards

“There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” said the agency.

The President declared the National State of Disaster as a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic. In this regard he introduced a special Covid 19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) of R350 per month for 6 months to be paid to individuals who are currently unemployed, do not receive any form of income, social grant, or UIF payment, etc.

As previously reported, the post office no longer pays the R350 grant. Its beneficiaries are encouraged to collect from approved retail outlets or have it deposited directly into their bank accounts.
