NIS would release a list of requirements and all applicants must possess all the requirements in order to be eligible to become officers in the Nigerian Immigration Service. The table below outlined the basic requirements that all applicants must possess before applying

Inspector of immigration	An NCE/ND certificate

Assistant Cadre Available Positions	Requirements
Immigration Assistant\| General Duty	A minimum of four(4) credits in SSCE/NECO/GCE in not more than two sittings
Immigration Assistant\|Artisans and Drivers and Mechanics	An O’level certificate along with trade test certificates
