The first question is “How far is SASSA with reconsiderations from last year and the current year?” And the response given by SASSA is that the assessment of all reconsideration applications has been completed and those approved paid. Those approved but not yet paid are those whose records are outstanding bank accounts, bank accounts provided failed bank account verification, or bank accounts pending verification from National Treasury.

The second question is “What is the current situation with the August and September payments?”. SASSA responded that August payments have been released from the 21st of September 2022 and September payments will be released after the October social grant payments.

The third question is “Most application statuses are pending from July 2022, why is that?” And the response is, the applications with a July status of pending will be updated after the August 2022 payments to the applicable outcome

The Fourth question is “Approved but not paid COVID-19 SRD grant for this year?”. The response is those approved but not yet paid are those whose records are outstanding bank accounts, bank accounts provided failed bank account verification or bank accounts pending verification from National Treasury, or those who selected Cash to send payments that were made from the 19th September 2022.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has also appealed to all special SRD-R350 grant beneficiaries or applicants who do not own a smartphone not to choose the EFT payment method.

The agency has discovered that some beneficiaries cannot process their EFT payment, it is because their phones have little to no computing or internet capacity.

All the applicable methods of payment can be accessed on the SASSA official website at https://srd.sassa.qov.za. Applicants can choose to receive payment through officially selected merchants and financial institutions.
