Latest News On N5000 RRR Cash Transfer Support Fund 2nd June 2022

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has disclosed that from June 2022, a set of two million beneficiaries would start receiving N5,000 basic cash transfer and an additional N5,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to their Bank Accounts, which would amount to N20billion to be splashed on the beneficiaries of the National Cash Transfer Programme.

The Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouk made this known in a document on the strategic roadmap and activities of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development obtained by The Punch.

The National Cash Transfer Programme is also known as Household Uplifting Programme (HUP) is one of the social safety nets programmes anchored by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

It is a component of the National Social Safety Nets Project (NASSP) which is supported by the World Bank, to provide financial support to targeted poor and vulnerable Nigerian households.

Beneficiaries of the programme are mined from the National Social Register (NSR), comprising State Social Registers (SR) of poor and vulnerable households.

The Minister noted that under the National Social Register as of 2022, 46 million persons in the 36 States and FCT, in 11 million households, had been registered by the Ministry.

Farouk speaking on the COVID-19 Rapid Response Register (RRR) noted that to date, out of one million beneficiaries targeted by the government in the Pilot Phase of the Rapid Response Register, the Ministry has been able to pay the sum of N5000 to over 850,000 beneficiaries digitally through the Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System, where the system carefully validates each account before payment.

Currently, another Batch of RRR beneficiaries is being validated and Payment of the N30,000 COVID-19 Rapid Response would commence upon completion of the validation processes.

The N30,000 NASSCO COVID-19 Rapid Response Register payment is a lump sum made up of the N5,000 monthly payment for six months.

In a recent development, the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) on Tuesday said the Federal Government is expanding the Rapid Response Register (RRR) to reach 5 million urban poor with cash transfers and #SafetyNets.

NASSCO stated that the programme is targeting more potential beneficiaries, adding that the Rapid Response Register project is not ending anytime soon.

From the recent development, registration for the COVID-19 Rapid Response Register will commence again for another batch of beneficiaries after the Enumeration and Validation of the current beneficiaries. Watch out!
