COVID-19: Buhari Govt May Impose Fresh Nationwide Lockdown
The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has warned that the federal government may impose a fresh nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Naija News reports that the Minister stated this while speaking during the 2021 budget breakdown in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to her, the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will be left with no other option but to impose another lockdown if COVID-19 cases keep rising.
Zainab Ahmed begged Nigerians not to let the situation get to that point when everyone would be forced to stay in their home again.
“We hope we never have to lockdown the economy like we did before because the impact is very high on the economy but then if the health challenge becomes so large, and the government has no option then that step might be taken,” he said.
