How to Shut Down Your Windows 10 PC Using Command Prompt
There are many things you can do with the CMD on your Windows 10, one of those things is shutting down your PC. Using the command prompt panel to shut-down your PC is a very good alternative, especially when your PC refuses to shutdown using the power button or when the Windows 10 start menu is not working, which will stop you from accessing the power button.

It will be very useful to learn how to use command line to shutdown your Windows 10 PC, especially when your computer freezes or encounters errors that will hinder system shutdown.

How to Shut Down Windows 10 PC/Laptop Using Command Prompt

The following steps below will guide you in shutting down your computer using command-line.

Step 1: Press Windows + R on your desktop to open the Run window, then type CMD into the box and press Ok to open the Command Prompt windows.

Step 2: Type “shutdown /s” and press the Enter key to shutdown your computer. Once you press the Enter key, a message will appear on the screen letting you know that your PC is about to shutdown.

Step 3: Type “shutdown /a” to immediately abort the shutdown process before the timeout.

Step 4: Type “shutdown /r” to Restart your PC.

Step 5: Type “shutdown /I” to Logoff your computer.

Step 6: Type “shutdown /?” to see the various choices you can do with the command prompt window.
