President Buhari Enacts Social Investment Agency Bill
President Muhammadu Buhari’s adviser, Bashir Ahmad, in a statement, said that the National Social Investment Programme Agency Bill had been legally enacted. Following a request for its passage in November 2022, the President signed the legislation into law.
The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) was developed in 2015 to make sure that resources were fairly distributed to vulnerable populations, such as children, youth, and women. It consists of a number of efforts, including:
N-Power Programme: Designed to encourage young people to start their own businesses and improve their abilities.
The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), which offers soft loans through programs like Trader Moni, Market Moni, and Farmer Moni, aims to address the difficulties in obtaining credit facilities.
The National Home-Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP) aims to increase school enrolment and lower rates of malnutrition by offering one healthy meal each day to students in public primary schools.
Program for Conditional Cash payments (CCT): Provides grants in the form of cash payments to households in need.
