NSFAS Online Application 2023 Currently Open For South African Students
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) online application is currently ongoing for the 2023-2024 academic year. Therefore, those who want to apply for NSFAS 2023 must submit an online application through the NSFAS website, www.nsfas.org.za before the application closes.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, NSFAS is a government student financial aid scheme that is given to poor undergraduate students in South Africa to assist them to pay for the cost of their tertiary education after completing high school. It is therefore funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). NSFAS Online Application 2023-2024.
Who Qualifies for the Bursary?
You qualify for a NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in 2023 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college and you meet the following requirements:
- SASSA recipients automatically qualify on financial eligibility
- Your combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year or
- A person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or
- Must have email and cell phone number

Requirement For the NSFAS Online Application 2023
NSFAS may need more information from you to process your application, check what supporting documents are required, and ensure that you have all the relevant information:
You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:
- Your own cellphone number and email address
- Copy of your ID or birth certificate
- ID copies of parents, guardian or spouse (If applicable)
- Your proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
- Your parents, guardian or spouse’s proof of income
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
- Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, click here to download
- An applicant who is recognised as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, click here to download.

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application 2023
- To apply for NSFAS 2023, follow the step-by-step outlined below:
- Go to NSFAS Application 2023 website at www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the “myNSFAS ” tab
- Create your myNSFAS account when the page opens
- After creating myNSFAS account, you then have to click on the“ Apply ” tab
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Then, check to update all your personal details
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Click on “Submit” to send your application for evaluation.
As soon as your application for NSFAS funding 2023 is approved, you will be covered until you complete your degree programme. If you wish to continue enjoying the NSFAS Funding Bursary, you have to meet the academic requirements. To ensure your continuous funding, all you have to do is concentrate on studying and passing your modules.
